Creating and Editing Documents

To create a draft document

Drafts are temporary documents, they have no legal value. To finalize a document check the Finalizing a document topic.

To create a draft document:

  1. Click the "New Document" icon on the toolbar.
  2. Select the document type with the Document Type button.
  3. Drag a customer to the document.
  4. Drag one or more items to the document or create them directly with the Add Document Item button under the document items list.

More options for editing the draft document are available within the inspector.

You can edit an item in a document in two ways:

Finalizing a document

To finalize a document:

  1. Double check all data and values (previewing the document is recomended).
  2. Click the Finalize button on the bottom.

Warning: After a document is finalized, it cannot be edited or deleted.

Currencies

If enabled in the Preferences, Invoy supports multiple currencies. It is usefule if you have to create documents that are not in your default currency.

To change a document's currency:

  1. Open the inspector.
  2. Click the document tab.
  3. Choose the currency you wish to use in the document.

A modal dialog will open in the main window, asking if you wish to convert the document's values to the new currency, and to specify a currency rate. ¹

¹ Warning: It is highly recommended to use a correct currency rate when using this feature, as there is no way to correct the rate after a document has been finalized. This value is used for SAFT audit reports. Use with caution.
