Rights of domain administrator for program installation and configuration
Please, use the following guides to properly install MAPILab POP3 Connector:
-
If you have installed version 1.*.*.*, you must remove it completely. If you want to save the current configuration, then save the xml files in the config directory in the installation folder of the program.
-
Install the current version of MAPILab POP3 Connector.
-
If there are configuration files from the previous versions, copy them to the folder: %Common Application Data%\MAPILab Ltd\MAPILab POP3 Connector\config
% Common Application Data% - common application files folder.
In Windows Server 2003/2003 R2, this folder is located in: % SystemDrive% \ Documents and Settings \ All Users \ Application Data \
in Windows Server 2008/2008 R2, it is located in: % SystemDrive% \ ProgramData \;
-
If there are no configuration files, then the MAPILab POP3 Connector Deployment Wizard will be launched automatically.
-
The first step is to select a mailbox for the administrator. This mailbox will receive all letters for which the recipient was not found.
-
The next step is to specify the path to the folder in which MAPILab POP3 Connector will store downloaded mail and log files.
-
Next select an existing receive connector for SMTP or create a new one. We recommend that you create a separate receive connector for the MAPILab POP3 Connector. Verify that the IP address and port specified for the new receive connector is not used by other receive connectors.
-
The next step is to select the type of authentication on the SMTP receive connector. Two methods are supported: Anonymous Access and Integrated Windows Authentication.
-
The Deployemnt Wizard automatically grants the necessary permissions for the selected (or created) SMTP Receive Connector. MAPILab POP3 Connector requires the permissions Accept any Sender and Submit Messages to Server (if Anonymous Access to the receive connector is chosen, then permissions will be issued to the account: NT AUTHORITY \ ANONYMOUS LOGON). If you select the Integrated Windows Authentication to connect to the SMTP receive connector, permissions will be granted to the account NT AUTHORITY \ SYSTEM.
-
Upon completion of the Deployment Wizard, you must enter the registration key on the Details tab of the connector properties or continue using the program in trial mode.
-
If you want to import the Native POP3 Connector configuration, run the import configuration wizard. There, select the SMTP receive connector previously specified in the installation wizard. For more information about importing the Native POP3 Connector configuration (see product help for more information)
-
Now you can begin to create MAPILab POP3 Connector mailboxes. To create a mailbox, use the menu item New Mailbox.
-
After defining all the settings, we strongly recommend running MAPILab POP3 Connector Diagnostic Tool, which will check the configuration for the existence of problems. The diagnostic utility creates a report file. If problems are found, you must save this report. This file will help our technical support to diagnose the problem quickly.
This section explains MAPILab POP3 Connector usage basics.
-
After installing (see Installation Notes) you can
add mailboxes using New Mailbox Wizard menu in MAPILab POP3 Connector Snap-IN. Then you
can configure mailboxes by double-clicking them or right-clicking
and selecting Properties in the context menu.
-
You can Start and Stop MAPILab POP3 Connector service from MAPILab POP3 Connector Snap-In or
using Services administration applet.
-
It is not necessary to restart the service after changing of connector settings. New settings will be applied automatically in two minuties. If you would like to apply it immediately it is necessary to restart the service of MAPILab POP3 Connector.
