Every column has a specified width. The table contains a setting for the default column width. If a column’s width is 0, the column will use the default column width.
To set the default width for all columns in a table:
- 1. From the scope menu choose the table.
- 2. From the action menu choose the default column width is:.
- 3. Modify the setting using the controls provided.

- 3. Modify the setting using the controls provided. To make the selected columns use the default width, use a value of 0.
Width is always displayed in points, but you can set the column width using a different measuring unit.
To set the width in inches, centimeters, or picas:
- 1. Click in the text field that displays the width value. This will select all the characters in the text field.
- 2. Type the desired value followed by the unit abbreviation. For example, to set a column width of one inch, you can type 1in as the setting. Other abbreviations are cm and pi for centimeters and picas. The width will still be displayed in points.
Unlike columns on a page, table columns cannot be sized as a percentage of the total width.
