Description

SyncTime is the easy-to-use and flexible solution to synchronize your files. Keep all your backup copies up to date with the click of a button, with automated schedules, from the Shortcuts app or even via AppleScript.

* To find out if SyncTime is the right solution for you, you can download and use SyncTime Lite for free. The only limitation of SyncTime Lite is that it discards any previous sync settings when closing and opening the app again. *

You can create as many sync items as you need and customize each one individually. In the standard configuration, a sync item consists of two directories: a source and a destination. You can choose any directory reachable in the Finder: it can be located on your Mac, on an external drive, or on a remote server.

Among the possible options you will find:
• select several sources and destinations: all the sources will be virtually merged and copied to every destination
• overwrite policy: overwrite only if the source file is newer than the destination file, overwrite if the source file has a different timestamp or size, always overwrite or never overwrite
• sync type: one-way sync (copy source to destination), two-way sync (merge source and destination) and one-way move (delete the source files after a successful copy to the destination)
• remove files that don’t exist on the source anymore
• add file filters with names or tags containing specific words or matching a regular expression, or modification dates or sizes in a specific range. Matching files can be excluded or included
• track moved and renamed files
• background syncing: files on your Mac are monitored for changes in real time
• start to sync automatically whenever source and destination become available or set up a custom sync schedule
• dependencies: a sync item will first trigger all its dependencies (if any) and run automatically when they are completed
• backup strategy: files to be overwritten or removed can be moved to the trash, or to a custom directory, or a full, incremental copy of the destination can be made, linking unchanged files
• skip the confirmation dialog once you're confident that the sync behaves correctly
• install AppleScripts (or create your own) to be executed when a specific sync has completed or after all syncs have completed. By default you can install scripts that shut down your Mac, send an email with the sync results, and more.

Wonderful, Powerful & Useful

This piece of software is wonderful & useful. While being both of these things it is also simple to setup & use;
Long story short, I was trying to setup multiple mac's syncing with my NAS server. I had tried to use a different & more expensive solution but it was not working. I had even paid for a more expensive version of this syncing software, because the express ver. would not mount & dismount SMB shares with differing credentials then the account that is on LAN Mac. On top of that the other software as one of the most restrictive license setups in town. Rather then tethering a "single" seat to a person or household, like most other pieces of software. A "single seat" is tethered to 1 computer/CPU & their DRM REALLY enforces that! If your trying to sync multiple macs in my case there is 5 of them that means I would have to buy 5 $50 copies of this software. For my purposes this software would be useless.
This led me to SyncTime. I used the lite version to test & see if ti could mount & dismount my SMB shares which it did without issue. Thank you for making this software; Also thank you for how you designed the software as well. This piece of software is WELL worth the money!

Does exactly what i need, nothing more, nothing less. However...

like i said, it does exactly what i need. i want to love it but a crippling issue as arisen and that issue seems to be a memory leak. i have it set to start at login and my imac only goes to sleep, never logging out as i’m the only user. i leave the sync window open to monitor the progress. after a few days and sync routines, activity monitor shows the memory allocated to it has ballooned. on startup it consumes about 85MB with my syncs configured. after 3 days, the memory allocated had ballooned to over 20 GIGABYTES. it seems it holds all of the files it transfers but never lets them go after the transfer is complete? i only noticed this when i woke up my iMac from sleep this morning and it was acting sluggish despite only being 2 weeks old with a fresh install of High Sierra.

i’ll keep a closer eye on it over the next week and update the progress. if the problem persists, i’ll escalate it to the dev. if it doesn’t, i’ll edit this out of my review and adjust it accordingly.

Excellent Little Tool!

SyncTime is an excellent little tool, and is my go-to tool for maintaining my website, keeping it backed up, etc.

The UI is clean and intuitive and easy to use. Additionally, the developer is easily accessible and quick to respond to questions, comments, feature requests, and the like. Also, for those out there concerned with accessibility, if he's able, he'll resolve whatever issue you have. I'm a VoiceOver user and have pointed out accessibility issues, and he's been more than happy to work with me, and has ultimately gotten the issues resolved.

I'd highly recommend SyncTime to anyone interested in a nifty little tool to perform your sync and backup tasks!
